Anorexia Shoot with Kate Robinson.

For a while now I've been wanting to do a photoshoot on a more conceptual level. Something that seems to stray away from the generic conventions of both fashion and lingerie style pieces, in order to create something which symbolism on a much higher level. I was particularly interested in doing a one focused around the theme of anorexia, in order to try and raise awareness of the both the reality and the ugliness of such a mental disease, and a few weeks ago i was given the oppurtunity to do so. My friend Kate is a photography student and is compiling a project based around the idea of imperfection and what the media can portray as being perfect in todays society, as well as how this well known image can affect young women. Below are just some of the results.

Once again I would just like to stress that first of all, I am not actually this skinny, the majority of these images have used alot of smoke and mirrors, makeup art, as well as been highly photoshopped to create the desired effect. I am also not trying to promote pro ana/mia in any way shape or form, and if anything the main aim of these images is to stray away from ideas like this. In a way that tries to portay that beauty isn't in a media image, and that girls who let them selves look this way, from an outside perspective look anything but beautiful.
